The concept of this project came from my dissertation research which was about “the influence of interior design on children with autism and learning disabilities”. This research has concluded that children with these disabilities get triggered by the lack of routine, bright lights, bright colours as well as noise!

Most of these children prefer activities with art, music or physical activities. As a result, I have designed this shopping centre to be inclusive for everyone and calming for these children.

This project was specifically designed for independent sustainable and ethical brands and it consists of 5 shops, 2 restaurants, 2 cafes as well as pop up stores in the mezzanine floor for small start-up business to present their work and these brands will change each month to give more opportunities to more businesses. In addition, there are 2 workshop spaces, one for adults and one for children. Moreover, there is an art room in the first floor for children to draw and paint while their parents shop. There is also a small outdoor playground so those who prefer physical activities can play outside.

Location: Eccles, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom.

Budget: £410,000

Programmes used: AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Google Sketchup and V-ray
